About Me

Nijole Gemal

I am a qualified person-centred BACP-accredited therapist. I have extensive experience and training to work with clients and have been doing so for more than 10 years. Helping to explore, make sense and change aspects of their lives. My work is in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

My work has given me the opportunity to work with many organisations across London and Essex. As well as giving me the flexibility to support individuals and couples through my private practice. I have also supported the client through the ESP service (Employment Support Programme) which gives support to clients in workplaces. My experience has allowed me to have worked with various organisations over the years.

Some of the organisations in which I have worked include; Mind in West Essex, The Counselling foundation, Enfield Parents & Children, 4Children/ Turnaround Project, YCT, Age UK, Anxiety UK, ADAS (working with addictions) and Sporting Chances a charity for mental health sportspeople professionals.

I am currently working with the IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) service also known as talking therapies which is often accessed via your local GP service.

What can I help with?

I can offer my clients a confidential, safe space to explore their thoughts and feelings without judgement. We can often avoid these difficult thoughts, as they can be painful and upsetting. Through therapy, we can explore and work towards making more positive changes, whilst achieving your goals. I have been working with clients as a qualified therapist for over 10 years now. I have a special interest in supporting clients with Depression, in which I am trained as a CFD (Counselling for Depression) therapist. I also work with other avenues of therapy including working with women around menopause, bereavement and work-related issues.

I have been fortunate to have experience with a vast age group. From children as young as four years old to more elder clients. I have also worked with teenagers around school-related issues including exam pressures, bullying and home issues.

My other areas of experience also include working with anxiety, cancer, couples, disabilities, health-related issues, loss, post-traumatic stress, pregnancy-related issues, redundancy, relationships, self-esteem, and women’s issues.

Qualifications

I have achieved degrees and diplomas including a Bachelor of Arts and foundation degree for counselling as well as a accredited diploma. I also have a certificate; counselling for depression (CfD) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy diploma.

Additional personal development and learning which I am committed and is a required by the BACP.
